"The Battle of Stalingrad was a major turning point in World War II and is considered the bloodiest battle in recorded human history. The battle was marked by brutality and disregard for military and civilian casualties on both sides. The battle is taken to include the German siege of the southern Russian city of Stalingrad, which is today Volgograd, the battle inside the city, and the Soviet counter-offensive which eventually trapped and destroyed the German Sixth Army and other Axis forces in and around the city. Total casualties for both sides are estimated to be over two million. The Axis powers lost large numbers of men and equipment, and never fully recovered from the defeat. For the Soviets, who also suffered great losses during the battle, the victory at Stalingrad marked the start of the liberation of the Soviet Union, leading to eventual victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. Nearly 61 years ago, Russia saved the world.

But today modern Russia is very different from their heroic past. They have lost their good will to fight on. Perhaps they have decided to rest on their laurels. Now their number one enemy is Vodka, the miraculous drink for celebration. But have they not realised the war against social incompetence is more dreadful than the war at Stalingrad? Today the fall of the Russian social system is so vast and grief- the once scientifically advance country is beginning to fall back to a third world society.

A day called as Dyen Pobedi, the Russians commemorate the Battle of Stalingrad, showing their respect to veteran fighters and defenders of their motherland. But despite this so-called victory, behind the march pass, there are still Russian youths out there who are drunk picking a fight with foreigners. The mythical victory, which the world respects Russia for, is no longer meaningful to the new Russian generation. They do not speak of honour and respect. This xenophobic majority youth is becoming a national agenda, but no Russian would admit its existence. As a matter of fact, if not repaired swiftly, the social dual-class system of xenophobic maniacs will collapse, bringing more problems to the Russian macroeconomy. The white-chauvinists or national-chauvinists in Russia and the rest of the world is on a rise, but has any one country openly admit their failure in their social management?

61 years ago Russia saved the world that made everyone kowtowed. Today, they must save themselves. Save the victory day for another day, there will be time for reminiscence in the future but certainly not today.
